Faktograf grew out of being the first fact-checking outlet in Croatia, which required developing the initial methodology for verifying public claims in the country. Since 2017, Faktograf.hr has been a verified member of the International Fact-Checking Network (IFCN), adhering to its global standards on non-partisanship and transparency.

As the work expanded, we joined the European Fact-Checking Standards Network (EFCSN) at its launch in 2022, and our Executive Director has served on its Governance Body since. That same year, Faktograf became a signatory to the EU’s strengthened Code of Practice on Disinformation to engage directly with European standards regarding tech platforms. In 2025, we also joined the Global Forum for Media Development (GFMD). Additionally, Faktograf.hr and the Climate Portal complie with the Journalism Trust Initiative (JTI) – the transparency and ethical standards system developed by Reporters Without Borders. The Climate portal participates in the work of CAAD Climate Action Against Disinformation.

On a regional level, we co-founded the SEE Check network in 2020 with five other organizations from Southeastern Europe (Raskrinkavanje.ba, Raskrinkavanje.me, Raskrikavanje.rs, FakeNews Tragač, and Razkrinkavanje.si) to address cross-border disinformation and coordinate media literacy initiatives.

These professional frameworks and standards allow us to work with various donors and partners while maintaining strict editorial independence.
