FUNDME – Formal Association of Non-Profit Digital Media

Non-profit media are established through citizens’ initiatives and have an important role in democratic societies since they provide deep insight into public interest themes, and strengthen the rule of law by conducting public oversight of the government’s work. Good practice examples show well-designed regulatory framework and stable, structured financial support strongly contributed to the development and resilience of the non-profit media sector. Since such support is lacking in the case of Croatia, implementation of the project Formal Association of Non-Profit Digital Media (FUNDME) will result in the creation of an association for civil society organizations which are publishers of electronic non-profit media, primary envisioned as a resource for the exchange of knowledge and good practices. Media policy analysis and media context analysis will be used as a basis for advocacy activities aimed at securing stable and long-term public support for the development and resilience of non-profit media, and raising awareness of the growing importance of non-profit media in our democracies. The project will contribute to a strong and vibrant civil society by supporting and promoting institutional and horizontal forms of cooperation between civil society organizations.

Within the project, the Non-Profit Media Initiative has published short analyses and recommendations in Croatian for improving the position of nonprofit media in media policy and changes to public media funding, as well as the possibilities of introducing taxes on digital platforms:

O nazivu i položaju neprofitnih medija
O oporezivanju digitalnih platformi
O financijskoj podršci radu neprofitnih medija
O sufinanciranju projekata međusektorskog potprograma Kreativna Europe
