Election Facts Hub

The project “Election Facts Hub” aims to address the challenge of misinformation and disinformation during election periods in Croatia. In 2024 Croatia held National Parliamentary elections, as well as the European Parliamentary elections, but the super-election year didn’t end there. In December we expect the Presidential elections to be held, and later on in May 2025 local elections. With this project we aim to create a foundation for the enlargement of the coalition for future elections. The spread of false information, particularly through social networks and media platforms, has become a significant issue, especially targeting vulnerable and marginalized social groups. This project focuses on enhancing the fact-checking capabilities of two non-profit media organizations, Lupiga and Libela, to ensure accurate information dissemination during the Croatian presidential election campaign. The goal is to provide the public with reliable information, enrich public discourse, and prevent the harmful effects of disinformation on democratic processes and election integrity.

The project is being implemented from October 1, 2024, to February 28, 2025, and is co-funded by Google.
