Back to the Roots: Rediscovering Audiences through Political Fact-Checking
The goal of this project is to go back to the roots of fact-checking and increase the reach of political fact-checking through an increased reach and engagement on social media. We will create an engaged audience that uses Faktograf as a source of accurate and contextualised information on political topics which will contribute to increasing society’s resilience to political manipulation and propaganda and strengthen political accountability. We will achieve this by diversifying distribution channels and content formats of political fact-checks on social media. In addition to the existing Facebook and Instagram pages, and YouTube channel, we will use WhatsApp, Threads and TikTok to reach new audiences.
The project is financed within the “Engage” grant, conducted by the Poynter Institute and the International Fact-Checking Network (IFCN), in collaboration with Google and YouTube.
