Decoding the Disinformation Playbook 3

Building on the success of the previous two projects, “Decoding the Disinformation Playbook 1 and 2,” the consortium plans to develop four case studies related to climate disinformation and attacks on journalists. Special attention will be given to disinformation campaigns targeting the work of local journalists.

Additionally, the investigative tool for journalists who wish to explore the tactics, techniques, and protocols of disinformation campaigns and attacks on media and journalists (“the matrix”), developed in the previous two projects, will now be tested on concrete cases.

The consortium will select three groups of journalists with experience in investigating climate-related disinformation. The selected groups will be invited to participate in the testing of the methodology and will receive a stipend (4000 EUR per organization) to support their investigations into climate disinformation and other related false narratives.

The consortium will also organize two workshops to introduce media professionals to the protocols and best practices for countering online harassment and disinformation campaigns, and produce four new episodes of the podcast “Decoding Disinformation.”

This nine-month project is a continuation of the collaborative work of a consortium consisting of the International Press Institute (IPI) as the lead organisation, and Faktograf and TAZ as partners.
